The ummah has accepted the hadith collection of Imam al-Bukhari as the most authoritative collection of the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Throughout Islamic history, it has been read and studied as a source of guidance, inspiration, as well as intercession in times of strife and tribulation. The abridgment by the Andalusian scholar of the seventh century, Abdullah ibn abi Jamrah consists of 300 or so selections from what are regarded as the quintessential traditions al-Bukhari’s collection.
In this class each hadith will be studied for both its apparent purport, as well as the underlying meanings as understood and interpreted by our greatest ulama, including Ibn abi Jamrah himself, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, and the 12th century Azhari scholar, Muhammad al-Shanawani.
