Forgiveness

Assalam alaykum wa rahmatullah

Dear questioner,

May Allah bless you and increase you in good.

Forgiveness

First of all, you should be happy that Allah has blessed you to be of those who forgive others. This is not easy. There is a great reward for doing so.
The Prophet ( peace be upon him) also said, He who does not show mercy to others, will not be shown mercy.” [Bukhari]
As far as the memories are concerned, this is natural. Sometimes we all remember the hurt that we experienced from others. Make dua at those moments and ask Allah to make you forget it and to move on gracefully. Also, make dua for that person, and you will be rewarded for this.

Every hurt removes sins.

The Prophet ( peace and blessings be upon him) said, “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.”
You can see that you will receive a reward for this Insha Allah. However, do not dwell upon the hurt, or your feelings of pain may come back, and you may start to despise the person again. Again this is not easy, but that’s why the reward is so great. It is not from weak faith.
