Ustadh Murabit Benavidez is a teacher of Arabic and introductory subjects such as fiqh (jurisprudence), usul al-fiqh (jurisprudential methodology), `aqidah (theology), nahu (syntax), sarf (morphology), balaghah (eloquence), and tazkiyah (spirituality), in the Islamic tradition. Upon his conversion to Islam at the age of 19, he relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to Damascus, Syria, to pursue studies in Islam where he acquired the sacred language of Arabic. He then traveled to Mauritania and lived in the village of the renowned `allamah and zahid Murabit Al-Hajj wald Fahfu, where he advanced his studies in fiqh, usul al-fiqh, and Arabic. He later spent time in `Ayn al-Khashbah at the school of the erudite Shaykh Murabit Ahmad Fal, where he advanced his readings in `aqidah, mantiq (Logic), and fiqh. In addition to teaching Arabic at Zaytuna College, he has also taught Maliki fiqh at the Ta’leef Collective in Fremont, California.
