Can I Exit Ihram After One Hady Sacrifice?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
Can I exit the state of Ihram after one of the two required hady sacrifices has been completed?
I am in Ihram for Hajj and have arranged two hady sacrifices. One has been completed, but the other is still pending. Can I exit Ihram based on the first sacrifice, or must I wait until both are done?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.
There is only one sacrificial offering (hady) required per person. If you have arranged for two for yourself, then once one has been completed, you can exit ihram after the first and do not need to wait for the second to be done.
Fiqh of Sacrificial Offering (Hady)
For those performing Umra first, then Hajj (Tamattu‘), or both ‘Umra and Hajj (Qiran), the sacrifice is mandatory (wajib). One must sacrifice a sheep or a seventh share in a cow or camel.
The sacrifice can be done any time after pelting until sunset on the 12th of Dhu al-Hijja. However, the above will not be able to shave the head/ exit Ihram until the sacrifice is completed. [‘Itr, How to Perform Hajj and ‘Umra]
