Is Using PRF or Salmon Polynucleotides Allowed for Under-Eye Treatments?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

Are under-eye treatments using salmon-derived polynucleotides or platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) from one’s own blood permissible, considering the source and purity of the substances?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

It will be permissible to use the above treatment for dark hollow under-eyes. The reason is that the treatment is more of a restorative in nature, in your case, rather than augmentative and cosmetic.

Both salmon-derived polynucleotides and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are regenerative treatments used in aesthetics and dermatology. They differ in their composition and mechanisms of action.

  • Salmon-derived polynucleotides, extracted from salmon sperm DNA, act as bio-stimulators, enhancing skin repair, hydration, and collagen production.
  • PRF, an autologous treatment derived from the patient’s own blood, contains a concentrated mix of platelets and growth factors that promote healing and tissue regeneration.

Medical restorative procedures that aim to correct defects and abnormalities are not considered to alter Allah’s creation. For example, a person may be born with a crooked nose, cleft lip, or extra finger. Restorative medical procedures to address these defects are not an issue, as they involve correcting an abnormality.
