How to Remove the Filth from a Wooden Surface?

Question

How can I remove impurities from a wooden surface? A cat urinated on my bed and walked over to my side table. Is my side table impure now? If yes, how can I remove the impurity? The cat is not my pet. A stray cat urinates in our rooms and causes us a lot of trouble. We have done everything to get rid of her, but she keeps returning.

Answer

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

I pray this finds you in the best of states.

As long as no traces of the urine were manifest on your side table, you can assume that your side table has remained pure. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]

When two objects come into contact, and one of them is filthy, then filth is considered to have transferred only if one of the two objects was dripping wet or a sign of the filth (color, smell, taste) is manifest on the pure object. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

Removing Filth

If your side table was filthy, you would simply pour water over it until you are reasonably sure that the filth has been removed. [Quduri, Mukhatasar]

And Allah knows best.
