Is Ghusl Mandatory If Stimulation Occurs Without Ejaculation?

Answered by Ustadh Sufyan Qufi

Question

Is ghusl mandatory if a husband is stimulated by his spouse but ejaculation does not occur, considering the possibility of sperm being present in pre-ejaculatory fluid or in urine afterward?

Answer

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

I pray this finds you in the best of states.

No, as long as an ejaculation has not occurred, no ritual bath (ghusl) is needed for a man. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]

The substance exiting a stimulated male organ is called “madhi.” When it exits the body only wudu is broken. [Ibid]

Allah (Most High) says: “O believers! When you rise up for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads, and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of ˹full˺ impurity, then take a full bath.” [Quran, 5:6]

And Allah knows best.
Wassalam
