Job Opening: Content Editor

Overview:

We are presently seeking a dynamic Content Editor who is experienced in writer and copy-editor with some publishing experience to join our growing Content team.

This role is extremely rewarding as the content is educational, spiritually uplifting, and varied.

Key Job Parameters:

  • Status: Full-time (40  hours a week, flexibility with working hours is required.)
  • Location: Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Proofreading, formatting, and editing articles written by internal and external scholars
  • Proofreading, formatting, and editing answers to questions that have been written by our internal scholars 
  • Regularly publishing the required quota to our website using our style guide
  • Providing input to the Weekly Newsletters for content that has been recently published 
  • Providing strategies for social media to promote our content offerings 
  • Creating a publishing schedule for the content and managing the publishings
  • Creating relationships with external parties to curate useful Islamic content 
  • Undertake research tasks to fully understand the recent trends in Islamic communities 
  • Review the website to change the featured offerings 
  • Review strategies to increase user engagement with the articles and answers 
  • Improve illustration in collaboration with marketing and design teams
  • Optimize published pieces using SEO guidelines
  • Manage the editorial calendar and ensure timely publication
  • Generate new ideas around industry-related topics
  • Monitor web traffic and user engagement (e.g. bounce rates)

Candidate Profile & Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a Content Editor, Web Editor, or similar role (2 years minimum)
  • Portfolio of published work
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
  • Attention to detail
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
  • Familiarity with SEO and keyword research
  • Willingness to work from home and flexible to attend meetings in Eastern Time
  • Working in an Islamic organization (volunteering or paid)
  • Student of Islamic Studies Courses – locally or online
  • A student with SeekersGuidance
  • Interested in Online Islamic Education
  • Passionate about creating content
  • Experience with design (Canva, Illustrator)

The candidate must also have a sound understanding of our core audience, the global Muslim community, and must demonstrate an understanding of core traditional Islamic values. This is to ensure they are able to communicate with audiences effectively.
