After the destruction of the majority of humanity for their disbelief, Nuh went on to re-establish Islam as the religion of humanity. From his descendants came the tribe ʿAd, a tyrannical and arrogant people. Their strength and worldly success convinced them that they would not perish. When Allah sent Hud to warn them their response was disturbingly like that of others who had disbelieved before them.
