Let’s #GiveLight to Millions More

We envision a world in which no one is cut off from the beauty, mercy and light of the Prophetic ﷺ example. A world where the dark ideology of a few is dwarfed by radiant example of the many who follow the way of the Prophet ﷺ. But we can’t do it alone. We need your support. This Ramadan, we need you to help us #GiveLight to millions more. Here’s how.

Devotion with Purpose – Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

In this Friday khutba in Ramadan, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani reflects on the first eleven verses of Surat al-Mu’minun. Shaykh Faraz highlights that when Allah calls us to any good in the Qur’an, He gives us the benefit behind it and the reality underlying it.

In these verses Allah begins by telling us that “successful indeed are the believers”, and then follows by describing to us what causes them to be successful. At the end of the eleven verses Allah tells us what the success is: “those who inherit paradise will dwell therein forever”.

Shaykh Faraz explains that the purpose of the believer behind their actions is to seek eternal closeness with Allah most high. He adds that the success of the believer is their eternal standing with their Lord. The qualities of those successful are described in those verses: praying with presence, turning away from folly, properly giving zakat, guarding desires, fulfilling trusts and commitments, and carefully guarding prayers.

Preparing to Go Like Muhammad Ali (Without The Selfies), by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

In this first Friday khutba of Ramadan, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani reflects on the passing of the late Muhammad Ali and his funeral. In this great moment of truth, people were snapping selfies standing at or near the front of the janaza. The immediate and fleeting seems much more real than the ultimate – our own mortality.

Shaykh Faraz brings to the forefront the reality of death and being prepared for it the way Muhammad Ali was, having set in place the specifics of his funeral over ten years ago.

Shaykh Faraz gives practical steps on how to prepare for death and embrace that inevitable reality. He also explains that one should not wish for death, as the Prophet ﷺ‎ taught us that it is best to have a long life full with good actions. However, one should be prepared for it, both spiritually and materially.
