We are blessed to reach another Ramadan. Let’s make the best use of our time. These On-Demand courses will help you to focus and get maximum benefits from this month of the Qur’an.

Each course contains a downloadable lesson set which you can listen to at your convenience.

1. Preparing for Ramadan: Lessons and Advice from Leading Scholars

This series of lessons by various scholars revolves around Sura al Baqara 2:183.

“Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may have taqwa.”

Each scholar unfolds the meanings of this and related verses, the practical aspects, and the hidden spiritual depths and heights one is called to attain in the blessed month of Ramadan.
Central to it all is Allah’s call to love Him and His Messenger, Allah bless him and give him peace.

Scholars included in this course: Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, Imam Zaid Shakir, Ustadha Zaynab Ansari, Habib Umar ibn Hafiz, Shaykh Rami Nsour, Shaykh Naeem Abdul Wali, Ustadh Abdullah Misra, Ustadh Ali Ataie, Habib Kadhim al Saqqaf, Shaykh Ahmed Saad al Azhari, Habib Muhammad al Saqqaf, Ustadh Amjad Tarsin, Shaykh Qutaiba Albluwi, Ustadha Umm Umar

2. Renewal by the Book: Daily Qur’an Tafsir Based on Imam Ghazali’s Ihya

In this series, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani and other scholars and teachers will be looking at points of reflection from key verses in the Qur’an. The series follows the thematic order of Imam Ghazali’s Ihya Ulum al-Din (Renewing the Religious Sciences). The aim is to connect the key verses of guidance from the Book of Allah with the blueprint of renewal, the Ihya so that we experience renewal by The Book.

3. Renewing Religion: Overview of Ghazali’s Ihya

This overview of Imam Ghazali’s great work, Ihya Ulum al-Din (Renewing the Religious Sciences) will serve as a blueprint for how the believer can bring their religion to life. It will aim to help the believer to not just practice the outer form of the religion properly, but to also to bring its spirit to life and practice it with excellence.

Lessons by: Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, Shaykh Riad Saloojee, Shaykh Walead Mosaad, Ustadh Amjad Tarsin

4. 30 Sacred Acts to Transform the Heart

Our scholars in residence explore 30 simple deeds that could have a far-reaching spiritual impact on our lives – and the lives of others. Whether it’s forgiving someone who’s wronged us or sharing a meal with a neighbor, these powerful lessons will remind us of the great gift the Prophet ﷺ‎ gave us: the best of character. The scholars also remind us to make the intention to put each teaching, each sacred act, into practice.

Lessons by: Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, Shaykh Muhammad Adeyinka Mendes, Shaykh Walead Mosaad, Shaykh Yahya Rhodus, Imam Amin Muhammad, Ustadh Amjad Tarsin, Dr. Ingrid Mattson

We’re only at $11,000 of the $150,000 we urgently need.

WHY ARE OUR SCHOLARS SO IMPORTANT?

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets.” Throughout history, the scholars have carried the Prophet’s torch — in teaching and guiding, and ensuring the community remains on the straight path.

The Dar al Fuqaha Seminary is Being Directly Affected

We have all celebrated the recent launch of the Dar al Fuqaha, where almost 150 students are benefiting on-ground from a full schedule of classes with leading Islamic scholars, from Syria and elsewhere, at the Mevlevihanesi, a historic Ottoman seminary in Istanbul. This was made possible only through the Islamic Scholars Fund and your support.

But now, this is under threat. There is a complete shutdown, with an imposed curfew, empty halls, and the livelihood of most of these scholars is under threat.

Don’t wait till Ramadan: give your zakat and charity now to support needy and deserving Islamic scholars –who are so challenged by the current crisis.

Supporting scholars–who preserve and spread the light of faith and Prophetic guidance in these testing times–is the best of charity:

عَن أبي هريرة أنَّ رَسُول اللَّه ﷺ قَالَ: مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى هُدىً كانَ لهُ مِنَ الأجْر مِثلُ أُجورِ منْ تَبِعهُ لاَ ينْقُصُ ذلكَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِم شَيْئًا رواهُ مسلمٌ

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever calls to guidance has the like of the reward of those who follow them–without this reducing their reward in any way.” [Muslim]

Supporting Islamic scholars is among the highest of Ummatic imperatives today.

Help spread the light of Prophetic guidance in these challenging times. Invest your Zakat and charity impactfully — to preserve sound, reliable Islamic knowledge for future generations.

Please remember, we don’t need to wait until Ramadan. The best of zakat and charity is the giving that has the greatest benefit. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

So go to seekersguidance.org/donate — give generously; encourage others to give; and pray for the scholars and students in need, and for all those affected.

What Happened to the Online Courses at Seekers? (Exciting new course format!)

Many of you are wondering what happened to the online courses at SeekersGuidance Global Islamic Seminary?

First, our On-Demand courses are still available. We have dozens of downloadable courses on a wide range of topics, all completely free.

Some of our courses include:

So… Where are the “Term-Based” Courses? (The Good News)

SeekersGuidance has grown, Alhamdulillah. By the end of 2019 we had passed 250,000 student registrations in our online courses–all of which are taught by qualified scholars, and all of them completely free.

We think deeply about how to be of the greatest, widest, truest, and deepest benefit. As a result–based on our team’s experience, consultation, consideration, and discussion–we have taken a bold new step:

We’re scrapping the Term-based course system, and adopting an Open Course system. Our new course offering–with almost 25 new courses–is launching on March 31st, insha’Allah.

What is this New Open Course System?

In our new Open Course system:

One. Anyone can register for any course, any time.

Two. You can complete the course at your own pace.

Three. You have retain full access to the lessons; assignments; forums; and live sessions with the teachers–for as long as you need to complete the courses.

Four. Reminders will be customized to your individual course completion.

All our courses remain completely free, Alhamdulillah.

How We’re Enhancing the Student Learning Experience

With this, we’re enhancing the learning experience at several levels, including:

One. We have a completely revamped course catalog–not only much more elegant, but also much clearer in terms of the wide range of our offerings (over 150 courses!).

Two. All our offerings are more clearly divided into structured learning streams and levels–with clearly-defined learning outcomes. We presently have five learning streams:

  1. The Seekers Islamic Studies Curriculum (formerly, the Steps Curriculum)
  2. The Seekers Learning Arabic Curriculum
  3. The Seekers Youth Islamic Studies Curriculum
  4. The Seekers Live courses–which are the current classes being taught live by the Seekers teachers, daily, across the world; and
  5. The On-Demand Courses–which are more general Living Guidance courses on a wide range of issues and subjects.

Three. Enhancing the student learning experience by significant upgrades to the Learning Management System (LMS); its interface; its useability; its mobile interface.

Four. After this, we’re implementing a world-class Student Information System, to (1) give each student clarity on their learning progress and next steps; (2) assist our teachers in mentoring students; and (3) facilitate fruitful student-teacher relationship that is key to a successful, fruitful learning journey.

“The teacher and the student are partners in good,” the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, [Ibn Maja and Tabarani]

We’re working to revive this blessed partnership, which transmits the blessing of Prophetic inheritance–reliable, uplifting knowledge and guidance that spreads benefit, light, and good in lives, communities, and this world.

The Seekers Growth Fund

This is part of the investment SeekersGuidance is making in improving the benefit, reach, and impact of our educational offerings. We have set a goal of reaching one million students served through our online courses by the end of 2022, insha’Allah. And we’re aiming to transform the impact and benefit of our offerings, as well–while keeping everything completely free.

For this, we need your support. The Seekers Growth Fund aims to raise $1 million in 2020, to invest across six critical projects related to expanding the reach and impact of our knowledge and guidance offerings.

By investing in the SeekersGuidance Growth Fund the IMPACT and BENEFIT of your support will be tremendous. Just some of the ways you will help:

Build an Online Learning Arabic Program that will serve at least 100,000 students in the next 3 years.

Tens of thousands of students gain a deep understanding of the Qur’an through the Seekers Qur’anic Literacy Certificate and reach hundreds of thousands–potentially millions– through the Qur’an Tafsir Project and the Qur’an App.

Preserve and spread the beautiful legacy of Syrian and Yemeni traditional Islamic scholarship–characterized by its balance, moderation, and depth–in times when it is urgently needed.

Train high-level scholars to be able to address the critical issues of this age–to give clarity to individuals and communities in otherwise confusing times.

The Seekers Youth Certificate and Seekers Youth Guidance reach thousands of young Muslims around the world–giving clarity and certitude to our children in confusing times.

Give generously to support the Seekers Growth Fund, to help us build the world’s first truly Global Islamic Seminary.

WE NEED YOU TO BE A PART OF THIS GROWTH

No other Islamic project reaches as many people, so consistently, so easily, with such clarity.

THIS IS THE PRESERVATION OF THE PROPHETIC TRADITION.
