56 – Directing Others to Good

In this episode Shaykh Yahya Rhodus highlights directing others to good, as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) calls us to do so. He narrates that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “he who directs others to a good deed is as the one who did it, and assuredly Allah loves the act of aiding the distressed”. Shaykh Yahya explains what it means for the one who points to good is as the one who did it. It is from the bounty of Allah that one gets rewarded without actually acting on the deed. He also clarifies what good means and makes the distinction between worldly good and good in the hereafter. Shaykh Yahya calls us to be people of good who bring about benefit to our societies and wherever we may be.

The Content of Character is a remarkable collection of sayings of the Prophet Muhammad. Chosen by the scholar, Shaykh Al-Amin Ali Mazrui and translated by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, this book was published to great critical acclaim.

Shaykh Al-Amin intended to show that progress among Muslims required not the abandonment of Islam but the recovery of the original spirit of Islamic enlightenment.

In this podcast series for SeekersHub, Shaykh Yahya Rhodus does a commentary on these concise and yet comprehensive sayings, with a special focus on character-building, morals, good manners and ethics.
