This podcast is based on al-Fawa’id al-Mukhtarah, one of the seminal works of the great scholar al-Habib Zayn bin Sumayt. The book contains advice on a wide range of subjects that are relevant to daily life, drawing on examples from the Haba’ib from Hadramout. We will be exploring this advice within the context of Muslims living in the West, with the aim of deriving guidance from it on ways to deal with modern challenges.

In this podcast, Shaykh Abdurragmaan Khan starts by reminding that it was the companions of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) who possessed the strongest of faith. Shaykh Abdurragmaan then moves on to give examples of the high rank and faith the companion possessed. By relating narrations of Ubayy ibn Ka’b how Allah mentioned his name, and the faith of Abu Bakr after the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) returned from the Isra wal Mir’aj.

Shaykh Abdurragmaan relates that it is an obligation to renew faith by saying abundantly La ilaha illa Allah. Which is one of the most effective means to increase in faith. Shaykh Abdurragmaan ends by calling all to reflect on nature, to recite and reflect on the verses of the Qur’an which of the greatest of means to increase one in faith.
