Futuwwa (Spiritual Chivalry): Do Not Hold Self or Action in High Regard or Seek Recompense – Shaykh Yayha Rhodus

According to Imam Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al Sulami (d. 412 AH, 1034 CE) in his book, Kitab al-Futuwwa, it is from Futuwwa not to hold oneself or one’s action in high regard nor to seek recompense for what one does. Shaykh Yahya mentions Ayah 9 of Surah Ihsan (76:9) in his discussion of this next virtue. He also discusses the four great traits of the People of Allah Ta’ala and translates a poem in praise of our beloved Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
