15 – Lives of the Companions (Part 1) – Ali ibn Abi Talib – Shaykh Muhammad Philander

In this episode, Shaykh Muhammad Philander captures some of the highlights and lessons from the life of the great companion Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). Ali was the son of the paternal uncle of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace). He was born ten years before prophethood, and born inside the Ka’ba. He was the first of the youths to accept Islam. His mother was Fatima bint Asad. He was  the father of Hasan, and Husayn. Ali was a very courageous and had no fear of the enemy. Ali lived in the prophetic household and grew up there. Two years after the migration (hijra) he married Lady Fatima az-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Of all the salient qualities that Ali Ibn Abi Talib possessed, his courage and bravery stood out the most. Ali Ibn Abi Talib denounced worldliness (dunya) and had no desire for it what so ever.
