In this episode of Seekers Complete Qur’an Tafsir, Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat introduces the second and longest chapter (Sura) in the Qur’an, Sura al-Baqara, and provides a commentary on its first five verses.

In its introduction, he highlights some of its virtues, particularly those related to reciting it regularly, and discusses some of its main themes from among which are: it provides the details of guidance after the generalization mentioned in Sura al-Fatiha, it explains what the “Straight Way” (Qur’an 1:6) is, and it talks about the human being as a representative of Allah Most High on earth characterized in the story of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him).

In the commentary, he outlines the qualities of the people of Taqwa (God-consciousness)—those who are truly guided by Allah Most High, unshakable in belief, and rooted in guidance—the people of success. In doing so, he discusses the nature of the connection between the true believer and Allah Most High as well as the believer’s connection with the creation.
