Question

What Can I Do To Remove My Misgiving During a Bath?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

1. When you start washing your body, as soon as the water reaches your body, it becomes pure and clean. The water that is used is pure even after it falls off your body. So ignore the doubts. Thus, used water is pure but not purifying thereafter if it is used again.

Used Water (Ma’ Mustamal)

Water becomes used (ma’ mustamal) when it is used to gain reward, e.g., washing one’s hands at the time of meals with the intention of the sunna or gaining purity from minor ritual impurity, e.g., to acquire wudu or major ritual impurity, e.g., cleanliness after a wet dream or bedroom relations.

[Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar; ‘Ala’uddin Ibn ‘Abidin, al-Hadiyya al-‘Ala’iyya]

2. The cloth will not become impure. you are using the cloth to wash and clean your body. Subsequent washes should purify and cleanse your body. Don’t worry.

3. The water sprinkles are pure, it is the purifying nature of it that goes away when it touches one’s body and falls onto the ground, etc. This water goes into the drain after touching the body. So, when water touches your body, that portion becomes pure and clean. Don’t worry, ignore the doubts thereafter. It is good to wash your hands if you using a water bucket.

4. Water, by its nature, will reach the earing holes, just slightly rub as your pour water, it will also reach around the curve of your ear.
