The True Cause of All Happiness and Good is Turning to Allah

 

From the Letters of Mawlay al-Arabi al-Darqawi:

339. I said to some of our brethren (may Allah be pleased with them):

The basis of all happiness and good—in their essence—is in directing oneself to Allah, and to always turn to Him. Likewise, the basis of all worries, sorrows, and disturbances—in their essence—, and of all loss is being heedless of Allah and turning away from Him. (And refuge is sought in Allah from this!)

 

If a person took heed from this and turned completely to their Lord, and turned away from their whims (hawa), they would have what the elect (awliya’) of Allah had of Divine Gifts….

It is absolutely necessary—absolutely necessary—to direct your focus to what I have mentioned to you, and to remain on it.
