How Can I, as a Man, Make Peace with the Temptation of Women Innate Inside of Me?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

How can I as a man make peace with the temptation of women innate inside of me?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

Allah Most High created men and women in different ways. Features appeal to men; words appeal to women. This is Allah’s creation, His wisdom; it had to be something. Humans cannot grasp the wisdom of every action and creation of Allah Most High.

Usama bin Zaid (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “After me, I have not left any trial (fitna) more severe to men than women.” [Bukhari]

Life is a Test, So Too, Women

Life is a test, and one of the biggest tests for men is women. This is how it is. We must navigate this test through mindfulness (taqwa) and patience and pass it through by following Allah’s commands and beautiful guiding teachings of our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), His companions, and those who have followed them.

Allah Most High said, “We have made some of you a trial for others. Will you not then be patient? And your Lord is All-Seeing.” [Quran, 25:20]

Men need to lower their gaze, more so as well as women, and observe their modesty. We are simply meant to help one another, not destroy one another.
