What Are the Signs That a Person Is Going to Paradise?

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

What are the signs that a person is going to Jannah?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

The most significant sign that a person is destined for Paradise is believing in and obeying Allah Most High.

Allah Most High says, “And those who believe and do good will be the residents of Paradise. They will be there forever.” [Quran, 2:82]

After this, there are many other minor signs, such as the following:

Being pleased with your good deeds and displeased with your bad deeds. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “If your good deeds please you and your bad deeds bother you, you are a believer.” [Ahmad]

Love of Allah Most High, His Messenger (may Allah bless him and give him peace), and the Righteous.

It is narrated that a man asked the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace), saying, “When is the Final Hour?” The Prophet replied, “What have you prepared for it?” The man said, “Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Messenger.” He said, “You will be with those who you love.” Anas bin Malik (Allah be pleased with him) said, “We were not elated with anything more than the Prophet’s statement, ‘You will be with those who you love;” Anas then said, “I love the Prophet and Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, and I hope to be with them because of my love for them, even though my deeds are not like theirs.” [Bukhari]

Reading the Quran

Despite the above answer, the Quran is filled with attributes and qualities by which Allah Most High describes the people of Paradise. The reader is then supposed to gauge their emulation of the people of Paradise by inculcating those qualities.

Hope this helps
