Can We Really Trust the Standards Set by the AAOIFI?

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Question

I was trying to find permissible ways to invest money and stumbled upon the AAOIFI standards. Can they really be trusted?

Answer

The AAOIFI Standards are consensus standards for Islamic Financial Institutions.

They were put together through a robust consultative and collaborative process involving leading Islamic scholars and specialists in Islamic finance.

While specific scholars may have specific disagreements with particulars of the Standards–given their nature as consensus standards–most leading contemporary scholars specialized in Islamic finance trust and approve of the AAOIFI Standards.

And Allah is the giver of success and facilitation.
