Can I Share Posts That Contain Blasphemous Content?

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

What is the ruling and correct way of sharing for awareness images or videos that contain blasphemous phrases or audio or video?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

When sharing anything, especially opinions that are contrary to one’s beliefs, one must take care to make it clear that one disagrees with such sentiments.

This is especially the case when it is not obvious that such beliefs are incorrect and not your own opinions.

Additionally, one should only share content containing wrongful beliefs, if there is a clear benefit or need. Since there is the ever-present risk that someone be exposed to a sinful belief and either adopt it as their own belief or become confused – one must be careful and intentional in what they share and why.

Hope this helps
