What Motivates a Person to Always Trust Allah’s Plan?

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

What motivates a person to trust Allah’s plan at all times?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

Trust in (a.k.a reliance on) Allah Most High is a direct result of one’s certainty in the fact that Allah Most High is the Only Provider and the Only Withholder; the Only Giver of harm and the Only Giver of benefit; and the Only One in whom the creation should put their hope. [Muhasibi, Adab al-Nufus]

True Reliance and Trust

Imam Harith al-Muhasibi mentions the following:

“The one who is true in his reliance upon Allah does not find his heart humbled for any created being. This is because his heart is filled with trust in Allah’s guarantee.  The one who is true in his reliance sees even the small blessings of Allah as being great due to his knowledge of the greatness of Allah Most High.” [Ibid.]

“Thus, (…) his heart is so at peace that he does not see any blessing in the heavens or the earth except that it is from Allah.” [Ibid.]
