Question

I would like to know if RLE surgery is permissible as my eyesight for reading become bad as the aging process. I am still working, and sometimes putting on my glasses is very annoying.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are well.

Yes, it is permissible to perform eye surgery on your eye, like RLE/Cataract surgery.

The Islamic ruling with regard to all types of surgeries is that they will be allowed as long as there is a genuine medical need. [al-Mawsua al-Fiqhiyya al-Kuwaitiyya; al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya]
