Can I Work In a Job Documenting Interest?

Question

Is it permissible to work for a management accountant consultancy in which a riba bank is also a client, among others? I will not be recording interest directly present during the transaction but documenting it.

Answer

I pray you are well.

Yes, this job is permissible as you are not directly involved with the transaction of documentation. Merely recording it afterwards, as an accountant would, is not considered directly assisting in sin. (Marghinani, Hidaya) Allah knows best.

Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat began his studies in Arabic Grammar and Morphology in 2005.
