Can I Wear a Jacket with a Small Silhouette of Hands and Face on It?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

Is it acceptable to wear a jacket with a picture (small silhouette) of hands and a face on it? I wasn’t sure if it was a face at first, but after looking up the brand, I realized it was a face in the middle of the two hands.

Could you please respond with an answer?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

I pray you are in good faith and health.

It will be permissible to wear this jacket as it is a small silhouette and not a clear full detail of a facial feature. [Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

However, if you would like to avoid doubt and intrusive thoughts, it would be better not to wear it during prayer, visiting the masjid, etc.
