Does Saliva from Others Reaching My Lips Affect Fasting?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
Does fasting remain valid if saliva particles from others reach my lips while talking, or must I wipe them off?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
If saliva particles from others reach your lips while talking, your fast is not affected unless you take in that saliva and swallow it down your throat. Although this is unlikely, it is better to wipe the saliva away and/or refrain from drawing it into the mouth. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]
Hope this helps
