How do I remove impurities from a carpet?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

Impurities are removed from a carpet by pouring water on the area and drying it up three times. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]

Identifying the Place of Impurity

If one is unable to exactly identify the place of impurity, one will estimate to the best of their ability and wash that area. After this, one must ignore any second guesses and know that the carpet is considered pure now. [Ibid.]

Transferral of Impurity

If a person whose feet are wet walks on a dry carpet with impurities on it, the feet are considered pure as long as the traces (smell and color) are not clearly manifest on their feet. [Ibid.]
