Is It Permissible to Hold Multiple Eid Prayers in the Same Mosque/Community?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

What is the ruling of holding Eid prayer multiple times, due to consideration of the global and local sighting positions, in the case that they don’t fall on the same day?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

Both the local and global sighting, as well as the calculation method, have been supported by various scholars with their own proofs.

That said, the general advice is to follow whatever one’s community does. If one’s community accommodates both/all of the above opinions.

Multiple Eid Prayers

Holding multiple Eid sermons/prayers in the same mosque/community is permissible. The condition is that the same person cannot lead both prayers.

Hope this helps
