Can One Use Toilet Paper of Any Kind?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

If toilet paper contains animal-derived or animal by-products, also it is said to contain animal gelatine or alcohol used for fragrance, if one was to use it while you’re doing wudu, does it invalidate it? Even if you are not, does it make you impure? I appreciate your help, sorry for all the questions, but I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

I pray you are in good faith and health.

Using toilet paper of any kind will not affect your wudu or its validity. The ingredients of tissue paper are fine, and it goes through a thorough change as an end product. One does not have to worry. Rest assured.
