Will I Be Drinking from the Mire of Pus or Sweat Because of my Past Sin of Indulging in Marijuana, Even if I’ve Repented and Left the Sin?

I fear that I will be drinking from the mud of khabal because of my past sin of indulging in marijuana. Will I be made to if I’ve repented and left the sin?
According to the hadith Sunan Ibn Maja (3377), “…If he commits (this sin) again, then Allah pledges to make him drink the mud of khabal on the Day of Resurrection.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is the mud of khabal?” He said, “The juices of the people of Hell.”
I’m sure that I have indulged in marijuana four times after repenting each time. Alhamdulillah, I have managed to cut it out of my life completely. Will I be made to drink from the mud of khabal for certain? I’ve read that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “The one who repents from sin is like one who did not commit sin.”

Yes, you are correct. The person who sins and then repents is considered as if they have not committed any sin at all. This is what has been mentioned in the hadith quoted by yourself and fully referenced below: “But if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance.”
‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever drinks wine and gets drunk, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days, and if he dies, he will enter Hell, but if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. If he drinks wine again and gets drunk, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days, and if he dies, he will enter Hell, but if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance.
If he drinks wine again and gets drunk, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days, and if he dies, he will enter Hell, but if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. But if he does it again, then Allah will most certainly make him drink of the mire of the pus or sweat on the Day of Resurrection.”
They said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is the mire of the pus or sweat? He said: “The drippings of the people of Hell.” [Ibn Maja]
Don’t Despair, Just Make a Habit of Regular Repentance
If one commits a major sin, sincere repentance is the only thing that can absolve one from it. A sincere repentance entails four conditions:
- One leaves the sin,
- One feels remorse for the acts committed,
- One resolve to not return to it, and
- One pays back or returns what one owes if the sin involves the rights of others.

No one should ever despair of Allah’s mercy if they’ve truly repented. He is the only One who can forgive us for the wrong we willingly commit. He is oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
