Is It Permissible to Travel During Ramadan? (Shafi’i)
Shafi'i Fiqh

Question: I want to visit Paris. However, fasting begins the same time as my break. I doubt I can take the long hours of fasting in their country. Should I simply not go to Paris and fulfil my fasting duties in my country?
Answer: assalamu alaykum
If your travel is permissible, and you are not traveling with the intention to do something impermissible, or engage in activities that demand doing something impermissible, you can make use of the dispensation as necessary.
Because you are planning to stay longer than four days, you will not be considered a traveler once you reach there, and therefore will still be required to fast while on your vacation.
However, you can make use of the dispensation on the days you are actually traveling between countries.
