What If You Feel Allah Is Not Responding to Your Duas?

Answered by Shaykh Abdurragmaan Khan

Question

So I have been making one dua over and over and over again to marry a sister and I saw my dua protected from another affliction and I do know Allah Most High responds to duas in three ways either he accepts them or protects me from an affliction or rewards me in akhirah so my question simply is should I keep making that dua or is this a sign that I must stop that dua and make other duas instead?

Answer

There is no problem in making dua or prayer that Allah Most High facilitates marriage between yourself and a specific lady that you believe will be a good wife to you and mother to your children.

However, what would be better is to refer the matter to Allah, by asking Him, Glory be to Him, to provide you a pious wife that will possess these qualities as He, Glory is to Him, knows best which lady will suit you better. In addition, it might be that the specific sister you contemplating marriage with, may not be the best wife suited for you.

Lastly, you may make the following Quranic supplication 100 times daily for the facilitation of marriage:

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Rabbi inni limaa anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir

O my Lord! truly am I in (desperate) need of any good that You send me! [Quran, 28:24]

And Allah knows best
