Can I View Stick Figures to Learn Different Positions for Intimacy?

Question

I wanted to learn about different sex positions to try with my wife. There is a website online that depicts various sex positions with stick figures.

I understand that looking at the ’awra is haram, but is it allowed to look at these stick figure depictions to learn new positions?

Answer

Thank you for your question. May Allah reward you for your scrupulousness and for being willing to stay within the limits that He has placed.

Stick Figures

What you mention is permissible, but I urge you to be careful when viewing anything on the internet on this topic. Images may pop up, and some sites may lead to other sites. I recommend using books as resources and speaking to people with experience. Elders, friends, and even a doctor can advise you.

Most importantly, keep this beautiful hadith in mind: In a weak hadith narrated in Musnad Abu Ya`la, the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) is reported to have said, “If any of you has intercourse with his wife, let him be true to her. If he attains his pleasure before her, then he shouldn’t hurry her away until she also attains her pleasure.” Though the hadith is weak, the meaning is sound, as mentioned by scholars.
