Supplications for Mid-day Nap

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

Should we recite the same supplications for sleeping even when we take a midday nap (qaylula)? Before we sleep and wake up, we should say certain adhkar and dua, but should we say them before and after qailula, too, or only at night?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

The meanings within the supplications for sleeping apply equally to the midday nap (qaylula) as well.

Allah Most High says, “And one of His signs is your sleep by night and by day ˹for rest˺ as well as your seeking His bounty ˹in both˺. Surely in this are signs for people who listen.” [Quran; 30:23]

Hope this helps
