How Can I Protect Myself from Any Evil Amulet and Harm?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

My stepmother is evil. We found a tawiz (amulet) tied to the root of a mint plant. She forced me into drinking mint lemonade or water made of mint from that plant. I can neither confront nor say anything to her. I fear my father will severely harm me or cause issues if I go against him. What can I do? What if someone does black magic, use amulet, or anything else upon us? How to destroy it, and what is its cure? Can it be prevented?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

You should ask if you can get the courage to ask your mother-in-law what is in the mint pot. What is the purpose of it? Also, if she drinks from it and other family members, there should be no concern. However, take the courage to ask with respect.

If not, then ensure that you keep yourself protected by doing the following:

1. Observe your Five obligatory prayers on time.

2. Recite Fatiha, Ayat al-Kursi, 4 Quls (al-Kafirun, al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq, and al-Nas) after every prayer, and blow in your palm and wipe all over your body and before going to sleep.

4. Recite the following supplication in the morning and evening, ideally after each prayer if you feel the need:

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

I seek refuge in Allah most perfect words from every devil, harmful thing, and accusing eye. [Bukhari]

5. It was narrated that Aban bin `Uthman (Allah be pleased with him) said, I heard `Uthman bin `Affan (Allah be pleased with him) say: The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: `Whoever says at the beginning of the day or the beginning of the night,

‘In the Name of Allah with Whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and he is the All-Hearing. All-Knowing.` three times, nothing will harm him during that day or that night.” [Musnad Ahmad]

6. Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah, Salawat, on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) as much as possible.

Allah Most High protect you, your family members, and all of us from any kind of harm and distress, Amin.
