Does the Fast Break by Water Entering Private Parts?

Shafi'i Fiqh

Question

I sometimes find that water goes into my private parts when washing myself. Does that break my fast?

Answer

Thank you for your important question.

Water entering one’s body while making ablution, ghusl, or removing filth is excused in fasting. (Bushra al Karim, Ba Ishn) Allah does not ask us to do something and then take us task for its repercussions.

This does not apply to a non-recommended shower or swim in the pool.

For this reason, even if water did inadvertently go inside one’s private parts while washing oneself it would not break one’s fast.
