Should One Avoid Applying Cream Onto the Middle of the Forehead?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

When applying sunscreen, I avoid applying it directly onto the middle of my forehead to avoid imitating the Hindus/Tamils living in my country/the neighboring country. They apply a dot of some sort onto the middle of their forehead. Is this regarded as going to extremes? Also, can I view past papers to revise, although the symbol of the examination board has a cross that loads on my screen every time I view papers?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

This is regarded as going into extreme. It seems that it is due to misgivings you have. Don’t worry. It is absolutely fine for you to apply the cream to the middle of your forehead.

Also, you can view the past papers despite it having a cross. This is a secondary matter. Your purpose is to revise past papers.

Deeds are Only rewarded by their Intentions

‘Umar Ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Verily, deeds are only with intentions, and every person will have only what they intended. Whoever emigrated to Allah and His Messenger, his emigration is for Allah and His Messenger. Whoever emigrated to get something in the world or to marry a woman, his emigration is for that to which he emigrated.” [Bukhari; Muslim]
