Question

Is Buying Things From a Loan and Taking Advanced Salary Permissible?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

Yes, it is permissible to buy items from a loan. One is also allowed to take an advanced and upfront salary.

The relationship between an employer and employee is based on a hiring (Ijarah) contract, where services are provided in exchange for a wage. Both parties are responsible for agreeing on the contractual terms and fulfilling their respective responsibilities while being considerate towards each other. Consulting each other before and during employment helps understand each other’s needs and expectations.

[Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever employs an employee, he must specify for him his wage [in advance].”

[Ibn Abd al-Razzaq, Muṣannaf ʿAbd al-Razzaq]
