Question

Is it permissible to apply filters or edits, like color grading or changing lighting, on real animal photos to enhance their appearance?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

Yes, it is permissible to apply filters or edits, such as color grading or adjusting lighting, to enhance the appearance of real animal photos as long as the edits are respectful, not deceptive, and not used for impermissible purposes.

Changing things like color grading isn’t seen as altering Allah’s creation, as mentioned in the Quran:

“I will certainly mislead them and delude them with empty hopes. Also, I will order them and they will slit the ears of cattle and alter Allah’s creation. And whoever takes Satan as a guardian instead of Allah has certainly suffered a tremendous loss.” [Quran, 4:119]

This is because these changes done in this way are temporary, not significant, and not misleading. Read the link below.
