Am I Responsible if Employees Use a Food Allowance to Buy Haram Food?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
Is it permissible to give employees a fixed food allowance for business trips if some may use it to purchase haram food? Am I responsible for their choices?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
It is permissible to give employees a fixed food allowance despite the possibility that they will use the money to purchase impermissible food.
You are not accountable for their selection of food, nor are you encouraging the purchase of impermissible food.
Hope this helps
