Can I Breathe In While Reciting the Quran in Prayer?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
Is it possible to breathe in while reciting the Quran or other parts of prayer? Also, in a sunna prayer, I doubted that I had read durud sharif twice, so what should I do now?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
I pray you are well.
There is no problem breathing while reciting the Quran in prayer.
As you had a doubt only, your prayer is valid. You are certain you recited the blessings on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) so it will not be removed by having doubts. Because one of the principles in Fiqh is “Certainty is not lifted by a doubt.”
If you are certain you recited it twice, then a forgetfulness prostration (sajdat al-sahw) would have been necessary.
