Is it Permissible to Sell Gold Watches to Men?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
Is it permissible to work in a watch store where solid gold watches are occasionally sold to men, even if most sales involve other types of watches?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.
It is permissible to work in a store that occasionally sells gold watches. However, selling a gold watch personally in the store as a Muslim would be impermissible. You can always delegate the sales to someone else. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]
