Is Wearing Animal Print Clothing Allowed in Islam?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

Is it permissible to wear clothing with animal print patterns, such as tiger stripes, leopard spots, or snakeskin designs?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

Yes. It is permissible to wear clothing with animal print patterns. There is nothing about this that contravenes the Sacred Law.

This is based on the principle that everything is permissible until evidence is established for its prohibition. [Razi, Tafsir Ayat al-Ahkam]
