Is It Idolatry to Celebrate Christmas?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

If you celebrate holidays such as Christmas, you have committed idolatry sin because the Romans created Christmas to celebrate the moon because the Romans believed in the moon, Venus, and other celestial bodies.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

I pray you are well.

If one celebrates Christmas, one will be sinful; however, it is not like worshipping idols or a form of idolatry worship unless one intends it that way.
