What If Someone Says That If He Scores in a Soccer Game, He Has to Pray?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

If a person has a thought in his head, such as if he scores this shot, it means Allah says he has to pray Dhuhr. But he doesn’t believe that whether he scored or missed depends on whether he has to pray or not, and he still takes the shot. Does this take the person out of the fold of Islam? This person suffers from waswasa too.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are well.

This is just a whisper from Shaytan that makes you think this way. One has to perform Dhuhr and all the prayers because of the command of Allah (Most High) as a means to make us acknowledge Him, remember Him, and ultimately get closer to Him. This is why we need to perform the prayers and train our minds to believe this way. Keep the following verses in mind about prayers.

“It is truly I. I am Allah! There is no god (worthy of worship) except Me. So worship Me (alone), and establish prayer for My remembrance.” [Quran, 20:14]

“Say, ‘Surely my prayer, my worship, my life, and my death are all for Allah—Lord of all worlds. He has no partner. So I am commanded, and so I am the first to submit.’” [Quran, 6:162-163]
