Question

What is the meaning of Shahadatain, and how can one remove doubts?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question, and it is an honor to answer your question. Don’t worry.

I am sad to hear you are going through some challenges in understanding the statement of faith. I ask Allah Most High to remove your doubts, give you ever-increasing faith and success in good works, and make you stronger each day in faith, works, and resultant state with Allah Most High.

Doubts in your faith or weakness of faith can occur for multiple reasons to anyone. This is clear and pure faith, as mentioned in a hadith. Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Some of the companions of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace) came and asked him, ‘We encounter in our selves that which one of us would deem to grave to speak of.’ He said, “Do you indeed encounter that?” They said, “Yes.” He said, “That is clear faith.”

In another narration, the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace) was asked about misgivings (i.e., in faith), and He said, “That is pure faith.” [Muslim]

Ignore Shaytan’s Whisperings

Ignore Shaytan’s whisperings, stay busy and occupy yourself doing things, keep the good company of reliable scholars and righteous family and friends, perform your five daily prayers, and do a regular form of remembrance and Salawat on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace).

We pray to Allah Most High that these doubts and whisperings cease and that you refresh and renew yourself with new commitments in shaAllah.
