Will Prophet Jesus (‘Isa) Marry and Have Children after Defeating the Dajjal?

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

Will Isa (peace be upon him) marry and have children at his second coming?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

There are reports, although speculative, that mention Jesus’ marriage after his second coming.

Jesus’ Marriage

Ibn Kathir (Allah have mercy on him) cites from Suhayli who said,

“Ibn Jarir mentioned that the Messiah (Jesus, son of Mary) descended from the heavens after he was raised and found his mother and another woman weeping before a person crucified on a tree trunk. He informed them that he was in fact not killed.” [Ibn Kathir; Bidaya wa’l-Nihaya]

Thereafter, he dispatched his disciples. Ibn Jarir continues: If he was able to descend once, he is then able to descend many more times. Then his final and most apparent descent will occur and he will break the crosses and kill the pigs. He will marry a woman from the tribe of Judham. When he eventually dies, he will be buried in the burial place of the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace).  [Ibid.]

Jesus’ Children

Imam Qurtubi narrates with a chain back to the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) that he said,

“Jesus will descend with 300 men and 400 women like the righteous of the previous nations. He will marry and have children. He will live for 45 years and he will be buried with me near my grave.” [Ibn Mulaqqin; al-Tawdih]

In another narration from ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr (Allah be pleased with him): “He will reach on Earth for 7 years and have two sons: Muhammad and Moses.” [Ibid.]

Hope this helps
