Is My Nikah Valid if the Witnesses Were Sinful?

Question
I learned that marriage witnesses must be of good moral character. My two witnesses listened to music and took part in celebrations like Christmas and birthdays.
I suffer from OCD. Should I renew my marriage contract?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
No. Your marriage is valid, and there is nothing to renew.
The Ruling
What the Shafi‘i school requires is uprightness as it appeared at the time of the contract, not as reconstructed by a later audit of the witnesses’ private conduct [Shirbini, Mughni al-Muhtaj].
The sins you name are matters scholars differed over, and they do not establish the open corruption that would strip a witness of his standing.
Your marriage was contracted with certainty. Certainty is not removed by doubt [Suyuti, al-Ashbah wa al-Naza’ir].
A marriage of several years is not reopened by a fiqh detail read about afterwards.

You told me you have OCD, so take this as the answer, not as advice. No renewal. No further research into the conditions of your own nikah. Let this be the last opinion you seek on it.
When the thought returns, say “my marriage is valid, I have been told so,” and move on without arguing with it. If these doubts reach into other parts of your worship, see a doctor or therapist alongside a scholar.
