Am I Sinful for Not Praying Jumu’a Prayer, If My Parents Will Not Take Me and Walking Is Not Possible Due to Distance?

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

My parents will not take me to the Jumu‘a salah. I can’t walk to the masjid because it is far. Is there any way I can still pray the Jumu‘a salah and avoid sin?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

If you are not able to get to the Jumu’a prayer, you are not sinful for missing Jumu’a. If you can find at least three more mature Muslim men in your area who are willing to establish a Jumu’a, this would be a sufficient number. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]

A basic sermon can be done by any one of them, and a two-unit prayer. This will fulfill the minimum requirements of the Jumu’a sermon/prayer. [Ibid.]

Hope this helps
